Thanks for your interest in Calvary Gospel Church!
We look forward to meeting you in person.
Who are we?
We're glad you asked! We are a Bible believing and teaching church, committed to loving God and people.
If you're looking for a church where you can begin, believe and belong, then we'd encourage you to check us out.
Where do I go when I first arrive?
Once you arrive, you'll be welcomed at the door and any questions you might have will be answered. Our Welcome Centre is centrally located in the main foyer just outside the main auditorium. There you'll find…
- Information about our ministries and service times
- Children's ministries staff to assist you in finding the right classrooms for your children
- Friendly and helpful volunteers waiting to answer questions and assist you
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Our church is committed to making you feel welcome.
What should I expect your worship service to be like?
At Calvary Gospel Church, our aim is to authentically worship God! We engage in the singing of gospel-centered, Christ-exalting songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, and provide a relevant sermon from the Bible. Although we aim for excellence, we don't seek to impress you with "bells and whistles". We seek to consistently provide an authentic, friendly and encouraging environment where believers can gather together to ascribe honour to God and hear from him.
Our worship service on Sunday mornings (10:30 a.m.) is approximately 75 minutes long. During the service, you’ll be asked to fill out a Visitor Connection Card and place it in the offering plate.
What about my children?
Our Calvary Kids program seeks to provide care and biblical instruction for children up to grade 5. When you arrive at the Welcome Centre in our lobby, our friendly welcome team members (look for the blue lanyards) will direct you to the registration desk in our Calvary Kids area. Once registered, we'd encourage you to sit as a family in the service. An announcement will be made after a few songs that will encourage those children heading to Calvary Kids to the front for prayer. The children will then be dismissed to attend their program! At the end of the service, please feel free to come and reclaim your child(ren) from the Calvary Kids area in the lower level. If you have any questions, we're here to help!
For those interested in learning more about Calvary Kids, they can find out more by visiting our Calvary Kids page. If you still have questions, please just ask!
What if my children need me while I'm in the service?
When your child checks into Calvary Kids each week, you will receive a security number. If your child needs you during the service, your child's number will appear on a special screen located to the right of the stage above the exit door. An usher in the foyer will be glad to help you if you need some direction from there.
What will the music be like?
J.S. Bach said, "The aim and final reason of all music is none else but the glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit." Each week, we use carefully chosen songs to praise God and humble our hearts toward him. We sing songs to music from a variety of generations, choosing lyrics and arrangements designed to speak effectively to the minds and hearts of the people in our midst. We use guitars, pianos, wind, percussion and other instruments, and we place an emphasis on hearing the voices of the congregation singing together. In the end, our aim is to ensure that everything we do is both rooted in God's Word, and relevant to the people who attend. Click here to read more about worship at Calvary.
What should I do when you pass the bread and juice during the service?
We usually celebrate communion once each month, usually on the first Sunday. All of those who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ, and are living lives of obedience are encouraged to join us in taking a cup and a cracker when it is passed to you. If you are uncertain as to whether you are a Christian, simply pass the bread and juice when it comes to you. We would encourage you to speak to a pastor, elder, or even the person beside you after the service to help answer any questions about becoming a Christian.
What happens after the service?
Immediately following the service, we would encourage you to grab a coffee or tea at our Connections Corner, to the right of the sanctuary as you come in.
Where should I park?
There's plenty of parking all around the church. There is no preferred parking except for those with disabilities, so you have the pick of the lot!
What if I still have questions?
We'd be happy to answer any questions that you still may have. Please call the church at 905.563.4151, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
